EXPERIENCE 2001-PRESENT

  • Apple, iTunes
    UI/Visual Designer
    August 2010 – present
My Primary responsibilities are wireframes and creative comps for the iTunes Store, App Store and iBooks Store across all platforms (desktop, iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch). I work with business and engineering teams to help define and scope new products and feature enhancements, establish the best user-experience, define project requirements and create user-flows based on those requirements, determine use-cases (edge cases and global/localization cases) and then execute UI, specs and creative design. I work as an independent contributor and work directly with producers, copy, front-end development, UI Engineering, and business groups.
  • Sony Music Entertainment, Global Digital Business
    Interactive Art Director
    August 2009 – August 2010
My role focused on leading major interactive initiatives (official sites and stores, social media, banner campaigns) for artists across all Sony Music labels (Columbia, RCA, Epic, Zomba, Legacy, Nashville) as well as Sony Music Entertainment corporate initiatives. I managed a team of junior designers, did high-level creative comps for official artist sites/stores and managed creative production based on my comps (site interior pages, store design and front-end dev, mobile site and app design, intro and landing page design and dev, banners, social media). Additionally I created artist mood boards and worked on pitch presentations for new artists on our platform. I worked directly with engineering on defining new product features for both editorial and commerce platforms (wires/comps), UI/visual design, and prototyping (html/css, user-flows, case-studies) and followed all projects through production with specs, QA and documentation for the entire group. I’m particularly proud of my work on the UI for a scalable global commerce tool that allows for rapid visual customization and deployment for artist stores.
  • MySpace, Sales & Marketing
    Senior Designer/Developer & Manager
    August 2007 – July 2009
I started at MySpace as the senior designer and creative developer for the marketing and content group, where I worked on all of the new programs and partnerships, as well as managing the junior designers. I was responsible for the original design and branding of MySpace’s content programs (entertainment, fashion, music, politics and non-profits, sports, charity and environment) and for integrating partner/sponsor brands and campaigns. My primary responsibilities were UI/UX (wireframes), creative design, front-end development, flash design/development, SEO, and managing/maintaining recurring programs (microsite communities and banners for original video series, contests, awards, music and comedy tours, etc…). The marketing group was joined with sales after a year, and my role grew to include working on both marketing and sales projects (branded microsites on myspace that included content and brand promotion, rich media banner campaigns, homepage and channel takeovers). My team grew to include flash/front-end developers and banner designers, and my responsibilities grew to include pre-sales design and presentations, and meeting and working with major clients and partners. Additional responsibilities included print/outdoor design for MySpace tours and events, working on product design recommendations and updates (homepage, user-homepage and profile UI/UX, navigation prototypes, login process user-flow).
  • The Designory
    Creative Flash Designer/Developer
    December 2005 – June 2007
I was a creative flash designer/developer for Nissan USA (www.nissanusa.com) and Infiniti (www.infiniti.com) websites, working on both the Nissan and Infiniti site redesigns and new microsites. I worked on all projects from concept to completion – starting with advising IA and creative teams on UI/UX, coordinating development of functionality with front-end and backend dev teams, doing flash motion design for main sites and microsites, working on dev for main site features such as global navigation, promo templates, carousels and microsite templates.
  • Dustin W Design
    Senior Designer/Developer
    May 2003 – August 2007
I started as a flash designer/developer, and quickly took on more responsibilities as the firm grew, becoming a senior designer/developer on all of the firm’s major initiatives. My responsibilities included concept/pitching new work, UI/UX (wireframes, specs, user-flows), creative design, flash design/dev, banner design and production, front-end and backend dev (php/MySQL). Major projects included TV Show, DVD, and Theatrical Film sites, banner campaigns and some print design for major studios (WB, Paramount, ABC) and charity/non-profit websites.
